The Emerson is probably not alone. But there's one reason why I would want the Alarm button pretty small: I really need to make sure I'm really awake and not on auto-pilot when shutting down the alarm! To turn off my alarm, you have to manipulate a tiny 4-way rocker switch on the side. Also, to SET the alarm, you have to manipulate that same tiny rocker switch to one of the middle settings.
